The office team
Taalthuis was founded in 2005 by Margreet van ’t Haaff. With a background in Dutch language and literature, communication and education, she wanted to create a Dutch language school where internationals could learn Dutch in a professional, personal and enjoyable way.
From the very beginning, Margreet developed her own teaching materials, specifically designed to meet the needs, interests and everyday experiences of internationals living and working in the Netherlands. This tailored approach made the lessons practical, relevant and engaging. It remains at the heart of the Taalthuis teaching philosophy today.
The office team in Haarlem is often the first point of contact for students. They answer questions, assist with registrations, advise on course levels and help each student find the Dutch course that best suits their needs.
Behind the scenes, the team coordinates teaching locations, online and classroom courses, in-company training, course schedules and communication with teachers, ensuring that everything runs smoothly.
Everyone at Taalthuis shares the same goal: helping internationals learn Dutch with confidence, enjoyment and a sense of connection to life in the Netherlands.

Our Team
Professional NT2 teachers
Taalthuis works with a large team of professional NT2 teachers who are carefully selected for their teaching skills, experience and enthusiasm for helping internationals learn Dutch.
Our teachers create a classroom where students feel safe to practise, make mistakes and start speaking. They explain Dutch clearly, encourage interaction and connect the language to situations students recognize from daily life and work.
Course development and E-learning
The quality of our Dutch courses starts with well-designed course materials. For beginner and intermediate levels (A0–A2), Taalthuis develops its own materials, giving our lessons a clear structure, a practical focus and a consistent learning experience. For higher levels (A2–C1), we work with course books from Coutinho, complemented by our own lesson plans and teaching materials.
Our course development team continuously creates and improves lesson content, exercises, vocabulary, grammar activities and e-learning. This gives students plenty of opportunities to practise their Dutch, both in class and at home between lessons.
